Insulation Quote Calculator

For our impressively accurate quote calculations, we do things a little differently than other insulation firms. Using Google Earth, we can accurately determine the cost of your insulation installation. All we need is your home’s measurements.

To work out the square footage of your home, follow these four simple steps. Please note that this process will not work for mobile users – only use a desktop computer for this.

1. Type your own address into Google Earth and click search. Using superimposed satellite imagery with lifelike 3D models, Google Earth should produce a top-down view of your neighbourhood.

2. Next, click “measure distance and area” in the left nav bar. Tap on the first point of the area that you wish to begin measuring, then the second point. The system will automatically measure the realistic distance between these two points.

3. You’ll then have the option to mark further points for the search engine to measure. You can make as many extra measuring points as you wish in order to capture the exact shape of your property boundaries. The program should produce an accurate reading of the square meterage.

4. Finally, please input the Google Earth measurement. Make sure you have decided on your preferences, namely whether you want to TOP UP your insulation or CLEAR OUT from scratch, as this will affect the resulting quote. Don’t forget to also give us your name, phone number, email and postcode address.

    FAQs

    Top Up Loft Insulation FAQs

The rules for loft insulation thickness and installation are mainly dictated by the standard government building regulations, which are reviewed every few years. Ideally, all fibreglass loft insulation should be at least 270mm thick consistently across the whole attic structure. However, 300mm of insulation is widely recommended, as it’s best for keeping your hard-earned pounds in your pocket. Different types of insulation, in our opinion, must absolutely not be stacked on top of each other to achieve this required thickness. So, for example, if you have vermiculite insulation already installed that doesn’t add up to 300mm, all that old insulation would need to be cleaned out, the loft would be hoovered, and finally a full 300mm fibreglass insulation with eaves vents would be installed.

We generally try to keep our service as straightforward and minimalist as possible, without any extras or garnishings – that’s how our prices stay as affordably low as they are. However, we know that some lofts have special requirements, including heating systems that may need a layer of protective insulation to match the rest of the attic. In such cases, we absolutely can wrap your hot water tank with fibreglass insulation at your request. If this sounds appealing to you, make sure to let us know during our initial consultation – we’ll sort everything else out.

With us, it certainly is. As we always say, we replace and top up loft insulation without the topped-up price tag. Replacing loft insulation may seem like an expensive, arduous task from the outset, but it can be deceptively quick and cheap to get it done with help from experienced, professional installers.

Achieving the same goals with more bells and whistles added, such as installing premium eco-friendly insulation materials like those offered by our partners at RJ Insulation, will often be more pricey. We aim to provide a high-quality service that can nevertheless be afforded by people working on tight budgets, which is extremely necessary considering the current cost-of-living crisis and fuel shortages.

For our loft insulation top up or replacement services, we do not provide removal skips for leftover rubbish. This is another cost-saving measure we take to keep our service as cheap and affordable as it is. We bag all the waste that needs disposing of in thick, clear plastic bags ready for either yourself or a family member to dispose of. We believe that exclusively focusing on our primary area of expertise – topping up loft insulation – allows us to work much more efficiently. After all, greater efficiency guarantees much better value for money and ensures incredible savings for the future.

The cheapest way to insulate your loft is to get your insulation installed by a professional, fast-working, no-frills service provider such as Top Up Loft Insulation. Our commitment to providing an economical service is reflected in our material of choice: fibreglass. Woven from thousands of tiny glass shards, fibreglass has been widely used across the UK ever since it was patented as a cheaper and more flexible alternative to carbon fibre. Fibreglass – sometimes rebranded as “Earthwool” – is undoubtedly less hazardous to human health than previously widespread insulation materials like asbestos, which were phased out as their toxic properties became recognised.
